The Pretzel City Nuggets
With many fond memories, we remember the Pretzel City Nuggets. Weekday daytime engagements were done by those members of the regular chorus who are able to come to any such event.
SHORT HISTORY:
The Pretzel City Nuggets were formed in the early 1980’s. The original concept was that this group would consist of retired chorus members who would make up a mini-chorus capable of singing during the day time to entertain nursing homes, senior citizen clubs and various other day time “gigs” which the chorus could not do. The leader of this group was Harold Breisch.
With the Nuggets members aging and not enough new retirees available, the group had disbanded in the early 1990’s, but reorganized in 2007 under the direction of Bob Seltzer.
The Nuggets rehearsed the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month from 10:00am to noon at Good Shepherd UCC Church on Tuckerton Road. Lunch afterwards has become a regular event and has done much to cement great relationships among the men. Practices were not permitted in 2020 due to Covid rules. Bob Seltzer retired during this time, and the assistant director Leroy Scheffler was appointed as director. The Nuggets met once late in 2021 for a reoganization meeting, unfortunately Leroy took ill and died a couple months later. Without a viable director, the Nuggets group was suspended in Jan. 2023.
